Welcome to QuailFarm Poultry Farm

Our Hatch Rate Guarantee

We GUARANTEE a 50% hatch rate on all hatching eggs you purchase! If that hatch rate is not met, we will refund 50% of the cost of your eggs. Here are the details:

  • To qualify, email jenna@myshirefarm.com within 7 days of hatch.
  • Refunds are based on the number of eggs you ordered, not the number of eggs you received. (We always include a few extra!)
  • Hatch rate is based on your TOTAL order, not on each color. If you purchased multiple colors in one order, base your hatch rate on the TOTAL number of eggs you ordered and the TOTAL number of eggs that hatched – see below for calculation details.
  • Shipping is not included in refund.
  • Refunds are issued to the same card used in original purchase.

How to calculate your hatch rate

To get your hatch rate, take the number of hatched eggs and divide by the number of purchased eggs. For example:

  • 75 hatched chicks ÷ 110 purchased eggs = .68, a 68% hatch rate
  • 15 hatched chicks ÷ 25 purchased eggs = .60, a 60% hatch rate

Our Live Quail Guarantee

Our Live Quail Shipping Procedures
We take great care to ensure that your live birds arrive quickly and safely.

  • We ship live quail ONLY on Tuesdays.
  • Allow 2-3 weeks for your shipment to go out.
  • We’ll send you a Priority Mail Express tracking number to you via email BEFORE your birds ship, so you’ll know their coming!
  • Most likely, you’ll need to pick your birds up at your local post office. If so, your post office will call when your chicks arrive.

GUARANTEE
Shipping live birds through the US Post Office is our best option. However, extreme weather can cause delays and turbulence can cause injuries.

We GUARANTEE that EVERY quail we ship will arrive alive and uninjured; if not, we’ll refund you for each affected bird. In addition, we will refund you for any shipped bird that dies within 24 hours of arrival.

To qualify for the refund, email jenna@myshirefarm.com within 3 days of your shipment arrival.

All About Quail: A Comprehensive Guide

Why Start?

Types of Quail

There are several species of quail, but the most commonly raised for farming purposes include:

  • Coturnix Quail (Japanese Quail): The most common species for egg production and meat. They grow quickly and begin laying eggs at around 6-8 weeks old.
  • Bobwhite Quail: Native to North America, these quail are often raised for meat and game purposes. They are also popular for release in hunting preserves.
  • Button Quail: These are much smaller and often kept as pets or ornamental birds due to their size and colorful plumage.

Quail Eggs

Quail eggs are a prized product, often used in gourmet cooking due to their rich flavor and nutritional value. Despite their small size, they are packed with protein, vitamins, and minerals, and are considered a delicacy in many parts of the world.

  • Nutritional Benefits: High in protein, rich in iron, and loaded with B vitamins.
  • Culinary Uses: Quail eggs can be hard-boiled, poached, fried, or used in salads, appetizers, and sushi.

Quail Meat

Quail meat is lean, tender, and flavorful, often considered a delicacy in fine dining. It is commonly grilled, roasted, or sautéed and used in gourmet dishes. The meat is low in fat but high in protein, making it a healthy option for meat lovers.

  • Culinary Appeal: Often served whole, quail is valued for its rich taste and can be marinated for added flavor.
